Collage Bags

Creating Unique One of a Kind Collage Bags has been a passion of mine for many years. I started designing carpet bags when I was in college at FIT. Over the years this evolved into creating bags which are a mix of antique fabrics with new, usually antique bark cloth from the 1930’s mixed with tapestries and upholstery fabrics. I like to mix different textures and patterns and then add antique buttons, sometimes pieces of broken costume jewelry, antique lace motifs or whatever inspires me.
The collage bag you see here called ‘Fleur de Crème’, modeled by Chessie, is a bag I created in August 2007. I took apart a dress from the 1930’s and the flap you see on the bag is the collar from the dress. The bag is a mix of old and new, garnished with antique laces, buttons, earings and has many secret pockets! .
